CAPES

The Coordination for Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES)
is a public foundation linked to the Ministry of Education. It was established in 1951, before the arrival of the Fulbright program in Brazil, with the mission to develop highly qualified human resources to fill the needs of the public and private sector and promote the development of the country.

The Coordination for Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - CAPES, in partnership with FULBRIGHT, offers up to 70 scholarships per year for doctoral studies in the U.S.. This complements the efforts of the graduate programs in Brazil, to enhance the development of high level scholars and researchers. Four years scholarships are offered to candidates who meet the standards of academic excellence with interest in studying in North-American institutions.
